Home Business Office
This section provides information on the set up and operation of a home business office. It is not necessary to think in terms of a highly structured or stylish office. The idea is to have an office that is practical and functional. Identify a location for your home business office. It is important to find a private spot of your own, regardless of your situation. For some people that spot may consist only of enough space for equipment.

All you need to start is a computer, printer, small file cabinet, good lighting, and some home office tools.
If you must share a computer with family members, get agreement on a time that is for you only.
When you get your own spot and time, you mentally begin to think of yourself as being in business. You begin to take it seriously. In addition, in a nice way, you are letting others know that you are serious.
You will notice over time that household members will start to show consideration for your time and space. You’ll get privacy even in areas of high traffic.
Naturally, it is important that you do your part. Treat your home based business and website building efforts as a serious business. Generally, you must…
- Go to work, daily (to your special office).
- Do not arrive late (your agreed upon time). Do not leave early.
- Dress business-like (or, if you must work in pajamas, at least get into the right frame of mind).
- Give a full effort (for the time you have set aside).
- Stay on a course to study your field, grow your business, and engage in self-development.
In addition to your time and space, there are a few other immediate and practical considerations to take into account.
The type of website you plan to build may influence how you set-up your home business office.
- Do you want to sell hard goods?
- Do you want to sell a service?
- Do you want to sell info-products?
- Do you only want to represent companies as an affiliate?
- Do you want to build a website to support a new home based business, or a business you already operate?
Of course, we can add more to the above list. However, you get the idea.
Answers to the above questions, and others, may determine how you set-up your office. Furthermore, your answers may determine how much time and space you will need to operate effectively.
Keep in mind that until you start to make money, there’s no reason to spend money setting up an elaborate home business office.
