A computer, printer, small file cabinet, and good lighting are, of course, the essential home office tools you need to set-up your office space.
You also need a program with which to write down the information that will appear on your website.
At this point, keep it simple, especially if you are not very familiar with office software.
All you need is a basic text editor or program. To start, Notepad, WordPad, or similar software will do. Actually, you can simply use pen or pencil and paper.
Then, you copy (or cut and paste) your information into a WYSIWYG editor to create your web pages.
No Purchase Necessary
There is no need for you to purchase the home office tools you need to start writing website content.
When you purchase a program, not only are you spending money now, you may have to spend money to keep the software updated.
First, investigate and use one of the following free desktop and/or web-based office suites.
Stand-Alone Programs
Remember: For now, keep your home office tools simple. You want to focus on writing good content, not on learning new software. It is nice to make money before you have to start spending money.
I suggest you wait until you investigate a few web-hosting companies before you decide to purchase any office tools.
With the tools of Site Sell, I think you will find it unnecessary to make any other purchase.
Password Management Tool
There is perhaps one additional home office tool you should consider when you first start to build your home business website. It is not likely that you will use this tool, initially.
However, you should get into the practice of using it now because later, you will use it a lot.
I refer to a password management tool.
You may need to keep up with dozens, perhaps hundreds, of user names, passwords, as well as other log-in and affiliate information.
Of course, you can pay for such a tool, but first, consider this free open source product – Password Safe.
Side Bar: Using Password Safe, I keep track of dozens of log-in information. It allows me to generate passwords, automatically.
I store the URL of the website in the program. I browse right to the website; then, I use the copy and paste function to enter my user name and password. (Note: the copy and paste function also prevents an unauthorized key logger program from tracking your keystrokes.)
For more than four years, I have used my original program without a problem.
Although my copy has never failed, I of course continue to take the wise action of keeping two backup copies.
I strongly recommend Password Safe, or a similar program.
