Find a Passion and Write

A first step for writing website content is to identify a great passion or interest on which you can write.

If you have no great passion, interest, or hobby, challenge yourself to develop a skill, or find something about which you can get excited. Then, start writing.

Study everything you can about something in which you have a great interest, or excitement. Become an expert on the subject. Expert as used here simply means to know more about the subject matter than anyone you know - not everyone in the world, just everyone you know.

The nature of the subject matter is not important as long as you have a strong passion, or interest about it. (Read about Long Tail Marketing).

Oh yeah, you do need BAM - brain and motivation. Obviously, you have a brain. The question is however "are you willing to force your mind into a higher level of mental activity".

Then there is the question of motivation.

If you are not motivated to undertake writing for mental health or monetary reasons, you need go no further. Perhaps you are happy, healthy, wealthy and satisfied.

However, if you want to aid your mental health, or if you want to make money, then find a passion and start writing.

Here's how you can start the process of becoming an expert in your subject matter. The monetary benefits will follow.

Find some very specific aspect of your larger subject matter or interest to focus on (Long Tail Marketing). Learn everything you can about that specific area.

The learning process may take weeks or it may take months.

Meanwhile, you'll build a website on what you know and learn, as you learn it.

For example, if you are a dog lover, you can start learning about one particular breed of dog, say Jack Russell Terriers.

You could also start in a more specific area. You could start with the dietary requirements of Jack Russell's. You could start with training techniques. You get the idea.

You then move from one area, category, or type of information to another.

Once you have learned that information, you move to yet another area of study, and then another. You naturally build knowledge as you go.

An instrument lover can learn about the origins of a particular instrument that s/he loves the most.

He or she can learn about the very first method of making the instrument, and from there learn about the various ways the instrument has been made or manufactured over the years.

How about discovering the changing ways in which people used the instrument over the years.

Break down your subject matter into very specific areas. The old adage "it is hard by the yard but a cinch by the inch" is true.

Now, take just one of the very specific areas that you have identified and start searching for information about that specific passion.

Look for information around a word or set of words, referred to as keyword searches. An example is looking for information around the word "saxophone", or a group of words such as the "origin of saxophone".

Website Keywords are one word or a group of words that people use when searching for information on the net.

You may find a lot of previously written information about your subject, or you may find very little information. Either way, do not let it bother you. Simply read everything. Absorb all you can.

Incorporate the information into your mindset. Make notes of any unusual or special information so that you can give credit to that author when and where necessary.

Do not look at your efforts as an overnight project.

Good habits are hard to form, but finding a passion and getting into the habit of writing about your passion is one of the most beneficial, to say nothing of profitable, habits you can undertake.

Now that you are reading, researching and studying your subject matter, you simultaneously take the next step, Write to Share Your Knowledge.

PS: If you need help in making a decision about your subject (actually, any important decision), Try this nifty tool - Choose It! Use this decision making process to organize your thinking.

If you have a strong interest in monetizing your subject matter, use a keyword brainstorming tool to identify hundreds, perhaps thousands of profitable keywords.

Search It! is another great tool for keyword brainstorming and much more.

Now, take a breather.

Find a passion and start writing.

Write Website Content
Look at why writing should not scare you. When you begin to write website content, do not worry about form, style or grammar.

Write to Share Your Knowledge
A major step in the writing process is to share your knowledge. Share with others all the things you know. Share what you are learning about a new hobby, passion, or skill.
