If you sell a product, your unique selling proposition (USP) is the number one benefit of your product. It is also the number one reason why your customer should make a purchase.
If however you are building an affiliate website, your USP serves a slightly different function. It is the main reason why people visit your site; and, it is the reason why someone should act on your recommendation(s).
To produce income as an affiliate website, you must get your visitors to act on your recommendations.
Of course, you already know that you must first offer your visitors information on how to solve a problem, fulfill a need, or satisfy a desire. It is how you develop credibility with your readers. It is the sum total of your website.
Show them the features and benefits of what you offer.
Then, use those features and benefits to develop a statement that summarizes the sum total of your website. This is your unique selling proposition.
Another way to think about your USP is that it is the single greatest benefit your customer could ask you to provide.
It takes time to come up with the right USP for your website. It is however the main factor that will separate you from your competitors. Therefore, take the time necessary to develop it.
Caution, the unique selling proposition of your key affiliate’s product is one thing; but the number one benefit of your website is another matter.
What is affiliate marketing?
No doubt, each of your affiliates has a product that offers a great benefit. They have their own USP.
Yes, you should (and must) draw attention to the USP of each affiliate product you promote. (If the product does not have one, you should create one).
A website however that promotes the products of affiliates must have its’ own unique selling proposition. That is to say, you must develop a USP for the website, itself.
You will then make your USP a part of everything you do. It will serve as the unifying theme for that website.
Your unique selling proposition is the core of your website.
Take all the time necessary to put together a great USP. It will separate you from your competition. It may mean the difference between success and failure.
