Website Content

Website Owner

Yes, content is king. Learn the proper use of website content, and you can push your website past ninety-seven percent of all other sites on the internet.

You hear the statement all the time – content is king. But, what does it mean?

Let's look to history for our answer.

In the past, building a website was all about building a fancy looking website. Webmasters used lots of "bells and whistles".

They quickly wanted to grab people's attention. Their only interest was to sell something.

And,

It worked. People were using the information highway to find that great bargain, super discount, a little known item, a great product, toy, or gadget.

Today however, more and more internet searchers are looking for information. They are looking for website content related to a specific need.

The concept of building (only) a great looking and perhaps fancy website will no longer work.

To enjoy long-term sustainable success, you must take into account how and why people use the internet.

In addition, it is important to understand the dual function of content. This "understanding" is vital if you are going to build a successful home based business website.

The First Function of Website Content…

…is to provide relevant information. You must also present that information in the right way.

PS: Do not feel that you have no relevant information to provide. Do not judge yourself too harshly. The fact is... everyone knows something about something. We just have to flush it out of you.

Meanwhile, you can read a great little e-book that will help you. There is no charge. You can download it to your computer.

I provide a link to the book when you subscribe to Sam's Free Online Offer. The book is required reading to take advantage of the offer.

The graphics and the "bells and whistles" on our website may get visitors to stop and look. However, good relevant content will keep them reading. They will return again and again for more information.

In addition, the title and description of web pages should match the information the page is providing. Otherwise, visitors to your site may feel tricked. If so, you will not gain their trust.

You cannot expect anyone to buy anything if you do not first gain his or her trust. You gain the trust of your readers by providing them with great information.

In other words, You must keep your web pages focused.

The page content should match the title and description for each page. Then, provide the information that solves a problem, desire, want, or need.

The Second Function of Website Content…

…is to PREsell visitors on your products or services. In order to PREsell them you must first gain their trust by providing them with relevant information.

Notice that the key word in the above sentence is to PREsell, and not sell.

The concept of PREselling is what you must fully appreciate, understand, and know how to execute. Otherwise, you will not have long-term sustainable success.

A successful home business website combines relevant website content with effective PREselling.
