{Info especially for the non-technical person}Finding the right website hosting company is important for your long-term success.
Simply put, web hosting refers to the storing of web pages on servers. Companies operate these servers continuously to display web pages on computers.
Throughout the world, there are millions of servers connected to the internet.
To view a web page, you simply type the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) into the address bar of your browser. This action usually takes you to the first page (referred to as the home page) of the website.
The URL is the name of the website (domain name) you want to view.
You can view any page for that website by typing in the specific page name. Each page on the website has a unique page identifier, which is the file name.
A web page of course is the page content written in "computer language" referred to as HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language. (See Website Building).
Avoid The Worry
Of Choosing The Right
Website Hosting Company
There are many different hosting companies offering various types of hosting plans. There are also different requirements to consider within each plan.
Adding to the difficulty are the extra and wide-ranging services offered by hosting companies. These additional services may include both paid and free services.
Some free services are associated with creating your web pages. Others pertain to promoting your website.
You pay extra if you exceed the requirements of your plan. Of course, the original cost of your plan increases when you upgrade or add to your original package.
Ideally, you want a company that offers a wide ranging set of tools. Moreover, you want those tools in a package deal and at a fix rate. You also want those tools to perform functions in an automated way.
In other words, you want everything you need, at a predetermined price.
You never want to pay extra charges.
And…,
You want the ability to use what you need with as little learning and effort as possible.
Site Sell is the (all-in-one) company I use for website hosting. I use the same company to build and promote my websites. I do however use another company for hosting of miscellaneous sites. Those websites are not built as primary profit centers. For example, see www.your-travelbiz-website.com. I also use 1and1 to register additional domain names or variations of the same name. For example, the following domain names send website searchers to the above travelbiz website. - www.yourtravelbizwebsites.com (the primary name with no dashes)
The following are domain names that point to the website you are reading. - www.build-home-business-website.com
- www.start-your-home-business-website.com
- www.build-your-home-business-website.com
- www.buildahomebusinesswebsite.com (no dashes)
- and others
The above name variations are registered with 1and1 but my primary website name is registered with Site Sell. Domain names are inexpensive to register. You could eventually build additional websites or simply have the names point to your main site. Someone may even offer to buy one of your names. I once sold a name for US$800.00. As you will discover through The Follow Me Project, there are many reasons why you may want to register multiple domain names and/or variations of the same name. |
Wait until you choose your website hosting company before you register a domain name.
Usually, it is better to register your main domain name with the company that hosts your website.
There is another important reason why you should wait to register your primary domain name. You want your name to include one or more of your profitable keywords.
The Follow Me Project will cover profitable keywords for your domain name when you start the action guide.
